VISION AND MISSION

CBCtupay ensures that all business actions respond to clear and defined policies and standards and additionally that all of these actions comply with our defined values.

We establish that all business actions comply with the processes and procedures established in CBCtupay’s “Strategic Business Plan”. We work under the principal of maximum transparency in our efforts.

We know and make clear the costs and benfits of CBCtupay as well as those of our suppliers and communities.

We do not distribute money or small gifts in the communities we work with because we do not want to support a welfare or begging mentality. If the tourist wishes to contribute individually to the community or family that receives them, the best way to do that is to make personal memories with immaterial value, friendly to the environment and the health of not only individuals but also communities.

We have a self-assessment system do determine which areas need improvement, in which aspects, how and when.

We have a “Manual of Quality” that defines standards establishes the adequate procedures so the products and services reach the desired quality, ensuring that the CBCtupay always maintains this quality.

SOCIAL-CULTURAL ASPECT

WE CONTRIBUTE

We want to contribute to the development of the indigenous communities that we work with. Apart from paying fair prices and establishing community funds, we motivate the community members to be ambassadors of their culture and we frequently carry out events with them (expositions, workshops, trips to fairs, etc.)

WE DEFINE

CBCtupay has defined codes of conduct for its stakeholders: the tourism agency, the tourist, and the entrepreneurs in the travel destination. They are tips to follow in the visited community, so that the tourism experience in the chosen social-cultural environment is a very valuable one.

WE VALUE

We strive to be aware of our own cultural values and how they affect the way that we judge others. There are many different concepts of time, personal space, communication, etc. which are not erroneous or inferior, simply different.

WE TRAIN

We have implemented a training program for our local partners in indigenous communities based on a “Tourism Service Training Manual” tailored to the needs of Community Rural Tourism (RCT) in Peru. Ask us about the different models and their implementation.

WE PROMOTE

The creation of businesses connected to the tourism production chain in the community: We work with and help local interpreters, small farmers, artisanal producers, etc. We promote gender and ethnic equality and the incorporation of people with local perspectives and Quechua roots into the language and culture of the indigenous communities of Cusco.

WE INVESTIGATE

We participate in processes of cultural enrichment through activities in conjuction with the NGO CBC based on participatory action research methodology led by local scholars. We encourage research on the past and its customs, as well as the preservation of traditional and ancestral knowledge such as: Andean medicine, dances and music, etc.

WE LINK

We link you with the artisanal production of the area (agriculture, weavings, etc.) through our travel packages. For example, we invite you to visit the Association of South Andean Weavers “Inkakunaq Ruwaynin” in their store or their communities to see their work.

WE LEARN

CBCtupay wishes to contribute to the learning of native languages – with special emphasis on the Quechua Collao of the Cusco region – by tourists. Ask for our promotional material (our “Intercultural Guide for Daily Interactions in Quechua” and other brochures). Use this material on the trips to better communicate with our allies and partners in the communities.

WE PREPARE

In our tours that include a night or more in an indigenous community we include a preparative briefing of the tour to all the travelers, in order to communicate important and valuable information on the customs and local culture and to encourage cultural exchange.

En el campo

ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT

WE OFFER ECOLOGICAL TOURS

Including activities of conservation as part of our tour packages. Tourists can participate in our native tree reforestation programs, work in bio-orchards, support small scale agriculture, etc.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO TRAVEL WITH US?

CBCtupay’s “Codes of Conduct” are readily available for all of its clients and those interested in its services. These include, among others, the principles to protect the biodiversity of the Cusco region.

PROMOVEMOS

The gradual installation of systems of alternative energy in our business and our destinations, for example compost bins and solar panels, with the help of co-financing from our mother NGO CBC and other ecological organizations.

WE CARE

We are conscious of the fact that the natural resources of the world are not unlimited. We take some measures in this regard: for example, towels and sheets are provided in the lodgings of the indigenous communities that we work with, but are only changed by request during our stay.
